You can help to save TROVE !!

Who uses TROVE??? If you do, your help is needed. I use it all the time every day to search for newspaper articles, photographs, and much more all over Australia. This facility is the envy of people in other countries and is undoubtedly one of the best resources ‘ever’ for researchers both professionally and personally. If you haven’t yet used it do try it – https://trove.nla.gov.au/
It has just been announced that they may remove the funding for this fantastic site. I feel like chaining myself to a railing ‘if there was one’. If you do use TROVE could I ask that you send an email to Tony Burke to lodge an objection?
Below I have copied the email I sent, but feel free to copy and or adapt it to suit you. Thank you so much, if we all pull together we can do this: His email address is  – tony.burke.mp@aph.gov.au
Dear Mr. Burke

I am writing to express my disappointment and opposition to the decision to withdraw funding from the National Library of Australia’s Trove newspaper project. As an internationally recognized resource, Trove is essential for historians, researchers, and genealogists worldwide. It is a priceless asset for Australians, providing a window into our history through contemporary reports.

Trove is also a valuable tool for universities, recommended for many courses, and an essential resource for those researching their family or local histories. The decision to remove funding for Trove seems short-sighted and a disservice to the arts and humanities in Australia. I strongly recommend that any decision to cut funding be reconsidered and that Trove be given the opportunity to develop and grow to meet the future needs of the Australian people.
As a historian of many years, I use Trove multiple times daily and would not be able to provide the service to others (free of charge) that I do now from TROVE should it no longer be available.
Sincerely,
Moya Sharp, Outback Family History. OAM

I am from New Zealand and I have used Trove a lot as my mother was born in Djarra Queensland. I have found the website very easy to use.
