The Sun Newspaper was circulated in the Goldfields from 1898 to 1929 when the name was changed to The Goldfields Observer, which continued until 1939. Printed and published by Frank Walker for Kalgoorlie Newspapers, Ltd at their office, 51 Forrest-street, Kalgoorlie next to the Railway Hotel.
The Sunday Times and “The Sun” newspapers in Western Australia. “The Sunday Times” was originally published in 1897 by Mr. F. C. B. Vosper who maintained control until his death, his family later selling to Messrs. James M. Smith and A. Read, proprietors of “The Kalgoorlie Sun”. “The Sun” was a weekly newspaper published in Kalgoorlie on Sundays.
The newspaper was very popular and had a reputation of printing the more ‘human’ side of the news. At one stage it published the following headline:-

Hi Catherine The hotel has a long and checkered history which ended up in its demolition in 1998. This will give you a brief history:-
