Southern Cross – Update

Outback Family History page for Southern Cross

An OFH reader recently contacted me to say that part of the Southern Cross Cemetery register was missing. It only went as far as ‘P’. So today I have devoted the day to fixing the register and working on the data to make it easier to read and also to add in such things as names for still born children and checking some of the entries with queries against them. It is now as correct and with as much information I can find.

One thing I don’t have is the photographs of the headstones, as I do for all the most of the other cemeteries. This excellent photo is one of the few that I do have and was taken by Paul Tonkin who is a regular contributor. Should anyone have any photographs that they would like to contribute, do let me know.

I have also added several new photographs to the Pictures pages both 1 an 2. Such as:-

John Orr was a resident of Bullfinch. He and a group of adventurous boys decided to build tunnels into the side of the slime dumps at the Great Western Consolidated mine in Bullfinch. The tunnel collapsed and he perished. I was 9 years old at the time, very sad.
