The Perseverance Accident.
The Boulder Branch has lost yet another of its members bv fatal accident. this time at the Perseverance mine. Richard Ryan, who has been in the Union for a number of years, was killed by falling against some pass logs and info a winze. The deceased was quite an institution on the mine and was well liked. No blame appeared to be attachable to any one except in regard the sands which he was running into the winze being left too long—some eight or nine months —and thus becoming caked.
The funeral Was largeley attended by his comrades, Messrs. Glance and Dodd attended on behalf of the union.

MINER KILLED ON THE PERSEVERANCE – FALLS OVER HUNDRED FEET.
A miner named Richard Ryan, aged 45, a single man, met his death at the BouIder Perseverance today. He was working in a pass at the 400 feet, when he lost his footing and rolled to the 500ft, where he struck a rill and rolled over into a stope. He was dead when examined. It is worth noting that the police cart was not used in the removal of the body to the morgue, the two-wheel mine ambulance being used, and proving comparably superior than the methods which have recently been brought under comment.
The deceased was a native of Geelong Vic, single and ,about 45 years of age. So.far as is known his only relative in the state is his brother, Mr. Cornelius Ryan, of Collie, who, prior to taking up land in that district, was also well known in Boulder. Richard Ryan was. a member of the Boulder branch of the Miners.
Richard is featured on the Western Australia Virtual Miners Memorial at- https://www.wavmm.com/listing/9252/
