Written and Published in 1906 by Arlene Collins nee Puddy.
Although the school in Leonora close to Gwalia is well known and still going today, many poeple may not know there was also a school at Gwalia. This excellent book tell its story.
In the introduction Arlene says:
This year, 2006, marks the 100th anniversary of the opening of the Gwalia State School in Johnson Street, Gawlia.
All that remains today is an empty block, the traces of a tennis court and the somewhat sad and fragile remains of the teachers house tenaciously hanging in there.
However very little has been written about the school years prior to 1906 from 1899. This little book is an attempt to fill in the missing years.
