I took this photo of the one roomed school house at Fimiston a week before it was demolished to make way for the Super Pit expansion in 1997. It was situated next to the KCGM offices at the time. I would think. There were many of these one roomed schools throughout Western Australia many of which now survive sometimes as homes and shops! — Fimiston (near Boulder)

Hi Moya,
any idea of the date the school at Fimiston was built?
I am doing family research and some lived in this area. I am unsure of when they travelled from Victoria to Western Australia but perhaps a little William may have attended.
family details were: father: William Henry MADDERN 1866-1937, Isabella (SHADE) 1860-1931, William Thomas MADDERN 1889-1917 (also Edward Robert Stephenson SHADE 1882-1908)
Both William Henry and William Thomas listed FIMISTON as their residences when enlisting to go to war https://www.aif.adfa.edu.au/showPerson?pid=184611
Thanks Moya
